Netscape Help for Adding Browser Button

First, prepare your Netscape browser...

  • Make sure your Personal Toolbar is showing. If you cannot see it, go to the View>Show>Personal Toolbar menu to make it appear.
     
  • To remove any unwanted buttons, go to Communicator>Bookmarks>Edit Bookmarks. Select the unwanted Personal Toolbar item. Right click on the name and select "Delete Bookmark".

Second, drag link onto your Personal Toolbar to create button...

  • Place your mouse pointer over the text in the yellow box labeled either "Add to Registry" or "Save Gift".
     
  • Press down the left mouse button and hold.
     
  • Drag to the Personal Toolbar. Your pointer symbol will change.
     
  • Release the mouse at the desired position to create the link as a button on your toolbar.
     
  • Try your new button. If you are on FindGift.com, it should give you a help message. If you are on another website, it should bring up either the Registry or Save Gift option (depending on the button).

 

NOTE: On some versions of Netscape, you will not be able to drag the JavaScript link to your Personal Toolbar. With these versions, you will need to manually add the button link...

  • Go to Communicator>Bookmarks>File Bookmark>Personal Bookmark Toolbar menu. This will add the help page into your Personal Toolbar. (We will edit this bookmark to place the correct link in this position.)
     
  • Place your mouse pointer over the text portion of the button.
     
  • Press down the right mouse button and hold.
     
  • Select the "Copy Link Location" option.
     
  • Go to Communicator>Bookmarks>Edit Bookmarks. Select the Personal Toolbar item that we just added (the help page). Right click on the name and select option "Bookmark Properties".
     
  • Change the name field to "Add to Registry" (Or, "Save Gift".)
     
  • Delete all of the currently shown characters within the "Link" field.
     
  • Place your curser within the now empty "Link" field.
     
  • Do a CTL-V to paste the link into the "Link" field.
     
  • Click on the "OK" button.
     
  • Try your new button. If you are on FindGift.com, it should give you a help message. If you are on another website, it should bring up either the Registry or Save Gift option (depending on the button).
