Netscape Help for Adding Browser Button
First, prepare your Netscape browser...
- Make sure your Personal Toolbar is showing. If you cannot see it, go to the View>Show>Personal Toolbar menu to make it appear.
- To remove any unwanted buttons, go to Communicator>Bookmarks>Edit Bookmarks. Select the unwanted Personal Toolbar item. Right click on the name and select "Delete Bookmark".
Second, drag link onto your Personal Toolbar to create button...
- Place your mouse pointer over the text in the yellow box labeled either "Add to Registry" or "Save Gift".
- Press down the left mouse button and hold.
- Drag to the Personal Toolbar. Your pointer symbol will change.
- Release the mouse at the desired position to create the link as a button on your toolbar.
- Try your new button. If you are on FindGift.com, it should give you a help message. If you are on another website, it should bring up either the Registry or Save Gift option (depending on the button).
NOTE: On some versions of Netscape, you will not be able to drag the JavaScript link to your Personal Toolbar. With these versions, you will need to manually add the button link...
- Go to Communicator>Bookmarks>File Bookmark>Personal Bookmark Toolbar menu. This will add the help page into your Personal Toolbar. (We will edit this bookmark to place the correct link in this position.)
- Place your mouse pointer over the text portion of the button.
- Press down the right mouse button and hold.
- Select the "Copy Link Location" option.
- Go to Communicator>Bookmarks>Edit Bookmarks. Select the Personal Toolbar item that we just added (the help page). Right click on the name and select option "Bookmark Properties".
- Change the name field to "Add to Registry" (Or, "Save Gift".)
- Delete all of the currently shown characters within the "Link" field.
- Place your curser within the now empty "Link" field.
- Do a CTL-V to paste the link into the "Link" field.
- Click on the "OK" button.
- Try your new button. If you are on FindGift.com, it should give you a help message. If you are on another website, it should bring up either the Registry or Save Gift option (depending on the button).
